The stage is set for the biggest final of the year this weekend, featuring eight of South Africa’s top multi-gaming organisations competing in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 for a total cash prize pool of R1-million.
While this is the largest cash prize pool in the history of e-sports in South Africa, we realise you might not know what this is all about.
The Telkom Digital Gaming League (DGL) Masters Final will take place this weekend, October 7 to 9, at the 2016 rAge expo at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg. The first games of the tournament kick off at 10am.
All matches can be viewed live right here on TimesLIVE.co.za or on Telkom's YouTube channel.
How will the R1-million be split up?
The cash pool will be split up equally between CS:GO and Dota 2. For each winning team:
First place: R200,000
Second place: R90,000
Third place: R50,000
Fourth place: R40,000
Fifth and sixth place: R35,000
Seventh and eighth place: R25,000
Watch your team inch closer to the final on the fixtures list:
All your favourite teams will be in action as they compete against each other in double-elimination, best-of-three tournaments for both CS:GO and Dota 2.
Who will broadcast the tournament?
One of the most popular figures in modern e-sports, Paul “ReDeYe” Chaloner, will headline the tournament. He played a huge part in the inaugural launch of the Telkom DGL Masters series in January 2016 and, more recently, was hosted #Dota2 #TI6 in August – the biggest e-sports tournament in the world.
He will be joined by a slew of shoutcasters and South African panel hosts.
